Ambitious, bright and curious Master of Accountancy students will become successful professionals in any aspect of business. Through Samford’s MAcc, you will:
“I will be the first person from Samford to graduate with the Master of Accountancy with a concentration in data analytics.
“This shows that Samford cares about their students and is up to date with how the profession is adapting and growing. The CPA exam is changing because the job of a public accountant is growing to include more information systems and data analytics skills and I wanted to grow my skills in those areas and the Brock School of Business has prepared me extremely well in those areas.”
“I went to Samford for undergraduate and was able to build relationships with the accounting professors during my first four years.
“Each of the professors really do care about their students and will go out of their way to help us in any way they can. This has led me to have a job for an amazing firm waiting for me when I graduate from the MAcc. I am also working to obtain my CPA license while going through my Master's classes. Overall, the professors have shaped me to be a better student, person, and future employee. I have truly enjoyed my experience so far and am ready to take, and give, as much as I can from the rest of my time in this program.”
“Choosing Samford for my master's program was an easy decision.
“It meant being able to stay with my peers and my professors and continuing to enjoy the wonderful environment that Samford provides. Taking this additional year for my master's means I not only get to further my education, but I also have more time to complete my CPA exam, making me more competitive for positions and promotions in the future. The MAcc in London trip was a wonderful experience to network, learn from professionals at these companies and represent Samford internationally.”
“I completed my BBA in Accounting as an undergrad at Samford and when deciding where to pursue my graduate degree it was an easy choice to stay at Samford.
“I like to set my future self up for success and pursuing my MAcc currently allows me the opportunity to potentially continue my education later on for a doctorate if that is where my career takes me. Accounting can be challenging and at times overwhelming, but from my amazing professors who continually pour into us and my classmates who support one another, I foresee this being my best year at Samford yet!”
“I chose Samford for my MAcc because I already knew the faculty and the students.
“I wanted to stay somewhere familiar. Most of the classes have been very hands on and research heavy, which is a nice change of pace from undergrad. I am looking forward to what the remainder of the program holds. My plan is to use my MAcc to become eligible for my CPA license.”
“My familiarity with the Samford Accounting faculty and the Brock School of Business’s mission further solidified the fact that Samford was the best place for me to pursue my Master of Accounting Degree.
“Upon completion of the MAcc program, I will be staying in Birmingham to start my career at Ernst & Young (EY) as a Tax Associate. I am very eager to see what opportunities await me in my public accounting career and beyond. However, regardless of what the future holds, I am confident that my Macc degree will serve me well throughout the entirety of my professional career.”
Our program offers the option to add a concentration in data analytics which focuses on leveraging data for accounting and financial decision-making.
Through this concentration, students gain an enriched understanding of how to gather, analyze and interpret data in the context of accounting functions and audit processes. This unique blend of accounting knowledge with data analytics skills prepares students to adapt to the rapidly evolving landscape of the accounting profession in this data-rich age.
Two joint degrees are also available—one with the Master of Business Administration and another with the Juris Doctor.
